We are a lentil family, yum. Our favorite is curried lentils and rice. Are they cheap in the sates? Here we pay 75 cents/pound for lentils and the same for rice. As a family of 11 we eat 2 pounds of rice and 1 pound of lentils a meal. Add in fresh tomatoes, green peppers, cilantro and onions and we eat for a total of about $2.00
Mama in Uganda, I cannot remember right now what I pay for rice and lentils... my brain is quite fuzzy. I go to the Amish bulk foods store again this week, I will have to pay more attention... that is, unless I forget...
