Happenings

- I can’t remember if I ever mentioned Paul’s job change. He quit one of his part-time jobs. (He kept UPS, of course.) He spent the summer driving the next day air packages for UPS. These hours worked great for us! He would leave at 4am and come home around noon. But, the vacation season is over and Paul will not likely be driving on weekdays any longer. He will continue to drive on Saturday mornings (so far as we can tell).

- We have been attending a different church since the last time I mentioned our church home. As far as I can tell, this will be a permanent change. We are now attending a small non-denominational church in our area. We LOVE the inter-personal dynamics of the church. They seem like one big family. The pastor, an elderly man we affectionately call “Pastor Joe,” is one of the nicest guys you could ever meet. We just LOVE Pastor Joe.

-The church asked Paul to take over teaching the adult Sunday School class, and Paul is delighted. And, he will be preaching the first week of September when Pastor Joe is out of town. I will be playing the piano that week too. I am eager for a chance to use my musical gifts again!

- We have not started the new full-time school year yet… we just have too many irons in the fire right now to start a new schedule. We are still doing a few hours of work a day: reading (often aloud), writing letters, gardening, and anything else that interests our children.
Yesterday we were given a whole set of encyclopedias! I am very excited to begin playing with those!!!

- Last week we began a massive project of downsizing our stored clothing collection. I sorted all the girls’ clothes and we gave away all sizes from 0 to 4T. I am not saying that we will not have more kids… we just felt selfish to hold on to such beautiful, functional, warm clothes when we do not need them right now. We were blessed to be able to donate the clothes to a local ministry that sells clothes to “the working poor” at garage sale prices. What a privilege to bless others!!!
I may sort through the boy clothing bins and down-size the excess. But, we will be keeping the boy clothes for the boys who are presently growing into them (rapidly!), and the new baby to join us in December.

- I am feeling well! The second trimester has been good to me! I plan to get back on a healthier food regimen, incorporating more whole foods. Rebecca is a great help to me in this cooking endeavor.

In short, we are all healthy and happy. That’s enough of an update for today. As you can see, my life is just as exciting as it always was ; )

What is an "encyclopedia"? It sounds like Wikipedia but in book form?

Hello there Bethany. I have not been posting or commenting very much for some time and when last I was you had "dropped out" ! Lovely to see this post and to come over and realise you have been back posting regularly. Looks as though I have a lot of catching up to do. Congratulations on the new expected baby. I hope all of your family are doing well. My quiet, grown up household has changed quite a lot in the past 7 months and we now have toddlers and babies here so I can really appreciate the hecticness of your household.

So glad to hear you are feeling good. That helps so much with everything.

And glad the new church situation is going well. I know you will love playing the piano that Sunday.
